Metz TV segment back on track for success
1 year of Metz Consumer Electronics
Zirndorf, 05.06.2016
Just 1 year after Metz Consumer Electronics GmbH was started up, the company is looking positively into the future. With approx. 160 employees working at the Zirndorf site, where Metz produces and develops its televisions, the brand has reestablished itself in the consumer electronics market. The next important step in company development is the upcoming introduction of the brand-new OLED TV technology, which will make Metz one of the leading brands in this still very young market segment.
Metz Consumer Electronics GmbH was founded as successor to the insolvent Metz-Werke GmbH & Co KG on 1 June 2015, and since then has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of the global company Skyworth. Skyworth is the market leading TV-manufacturer in China and also one of the ten leading producers of televisions internationally. Metz Consumer Electronics remains headquartered in Zirndorf, where production and development continue to take place.
Since the reorientation of TV manufacturer Metz, the Zirndorf-based company has once more been steadily on the up. “We are very happy that, with Skyworth on our side, Metz has managed to restart. Our parent company is one of the top players in China in the TV segment, with major international goals for the coming years. For Metz, this situation means economic stability and a chance to heighten synergies together with our parent company, particularly in the technology segment. Thanks to this, Metz now has access to state of the art technology – an issue that was difficult for Metz to resolve in previous years,” says CEO Dr Norbert Kotzbauer.
When it comes to sales, the focus lies as before on consultation-intensive specialists; however, in addition to the traditional distribution channels with classic specialist retailers, Metz Consumer Electronics is continuing to expand cooperation it had already successfully begun with larger purchasing coopera-tion specialist retailers Euronics, Expert and ElectronicPartner. This ultimately also significantly increases Metz’s brand awareness.
In this context, the first Metz OLED television is a real sensation within the industry. This future-oriented TV technology is currently only accessible to a few market players and is surely one of the most exciting future topics in the sector. Metz OLED (in screen sizes 55” and 65”) is equipped with state of the art image technology, impresses with its design and, what is more, boasts excellent sound characteristics. The market launch is planned for September this year.
Parallel to this, Skyworth is preparing to launch its brand in Germany and Aus-tria. This will provide additional impetus for Metz, because marketing Skyworth products ultimately represents the second important pillar for Metz Consumer Electronics GmbH. It will therefore now be possible to work a larger part of the market.
With these changes, Metz Consumer Electronics is setting a clear signal for the future and proving that the cooperation with its Chinese parent company, Skyworth, is beginning to bear fruit.
